Tora Con Day 2 & Haul!

Hi friends! <3

So, today was the last day of the con. We got up a little early to pack and check out, before heading over to the con. I was excited to get there for rehearsal since I was modeling in the fashion show.

There was a good representation of the various styles. Once everyone knew the plan and had done a few practice walks/poses, staff began letting people in. There was a nice sized crowd. After we each took our turn on the stage, audience members were allowed to ask us questions. Some of the ones we got asked were "What got you interested in lolita?" and "What is your dream dress and why?" It was fun!

Then it was time for a final walk through of the vendor and artist alley area. I splurged on  a headdress I had been debating over as well as got a few more small things. But not too bad in the end.

Wore a gothic coord in navy x black x gold.

Tora Con Day 1!

Hi friends! <3

I went to another con with the boyfriend over the weekend; Tora Con!

The night before, we checked into the hotel and then picked up our badges. They gave us the program book and a schedule. It was fun to look over all the events and panels available. It also listed out and had a map of the vendors and artist alley booths.

We started off in the vendor and artist alley section. I saw this cute little plushie version of the Sanrio character Marumofubiyori. He's a polar bear that is very attached to his fuzzy blanket and likes to nap/relax at home. So cute!

There were so many interesting things to see. All kinds of merchandise, artwork, crafts, etc. I took a moment and got a pic in this special photo area. I like how they included so many different anime characters in one setting; Ed and Winry from Full Metal Alchemist, Goku from Dragonball, Serena from Sailor Moon, Nami from One Piece, and a couple others I didn't know.

Since a lot of time was spent shopping, we just went to one panel (RWBY), and then played Pokémon Go for a few hours (as it was Treecko community day). After such a busy day, we ended up having a late lunch. I got this pork ramen bowl. It was delicious!

Wore a sweet coord in pink x ivory x gold.

UBCon Day 3 & Mini Haul!

Hi friends! <3

Day 3 (Sunday)

Today was the last day of the con. I frilled up again; in pastels this time. Most of the day was spent helping out in the vendor room and taking one last look around at the goodies for sale. Thankfully I only ended up with just one more item. I went to a tea party panel to enjoy some tea and relax after a such a busy weekend. The tea party had a 90's theme to it. They had music videos from popular 90's music playing while everyone chatted.

I tried out this tea. It was tasty :-)

Letting it steep...

Mmm...

They also had snacks, so I got some bbq chips and a lemon candy for later...

UBCon Day 1 & 2!

Hi friends! <3

This weekend is UBCon! The boyfriend and I are helping out a friend who's vending there. We're also going to wander around looking at all the goods for sale and maybe check out a few panels.

Day 1 (Friday)

My friend didn't need us until the con started which was in the evening. Which was good as I had work until then. I changed when I got home and then the boyfriend drove us over. I went with a cute and comfy panda outfit featuring sparkly golden bows and a rainbow parfait necklace and striped fuzzy socks. I also brought along my little panda friend <3 We helped out most of the night, taking turns to check out what the other vendors were selling.

Day 2 (Saturday)

I had a half day of work (8am until 12pm) then went home to change. This time I wore a lolita coord featuring foxes and grapes. Thankfully I had laid out everything the night before so it didn't take too long to get ready. Then I drove myself to the con. It was already pretty busy and it took awhile to find a parking spot. I made my way over to the booth and saw that lunch had just arrived. I helped out most of the day and later, went to a panel about how to be a magical girl. One of the tasks involved designing a transformation outfit out of rolls of toilet paper. It was fun. Once the vendor room closed for the night, we headed home. I dropped off my car and then we went to pick up some Chinese food for dinner.

Wore a sweet coord in navy x green x silver. Found this vineyard mural in one of the hallways and thought it would make for a great background.

Bow, jsk~ Metamorphose "Grapy Sweetie Fox Cub"
Otks~ Metamorphose "Dressy"

Pin (wore as pendant)~ Peppermint Fox "Librarian Fox"
Ring~ Angelic Pretty "Lovely Ribbon"

What is One Facet of the Fashion You Enjoy & One You Don't...

Hi friends! <3

So, this week's topic is fairly straight forward. Let's get into it!

Enjoy- I love getting all dressed up in cute clothes and accessories. As you get older, clothing choices seem to become limited. Work clothes all look the same after awhile, and it's difficult to find something not covered in stripes, polka dots, or flower prints. There's many times I've seen something in the children's section at a store and wished it came in my size. Why don't they make things like that for adults? Some places have been working on this, but there's still room for improvement. Lolita clothes and accessories are a great way for people to express their inner self/creative side. The big, small, and indie brands are all coming out with new things constantly. You're bound to find something you like. And, even if you and your friends want to get the exact same thing, you can still coord it differently.

Don't Enjoy- Meet-ups not happening much. I used to go to about two meet-ups a month between the local and semi-local comms. Now I'm lucky if at least one meet-up happens. That may be due to a variety of things though. I think it's mainly due to the weather (as we're in winter time here still). Although spring is on the way, it may be awhile before it actually decides to stay. I also think some people may have just switched their focus to be on other things like family and different hobbies. I may just try for more casual/smaller type meet-ups/events instead, like going for lunch with a friend. I want to go places and do things while all dressed up, and not spend money on things just to have them sit around in my closet going to waste.
