Halloween Work Coord!

Hi friends! <3

Since it was Halloween, I got to dress up for work. I debated over what to wear, then decided on lolita. Even though I just wore a coord a few days ago, I wanted to wear a different dress. Specifically my Meta one with the book print, black cats, and cauldrons. I thought it would be perfect for the spooky holiday.

There was a costume contest with prizes. I didn't win anything though. Oh well. But I did enjoy the yummy apple cider and donuts afterwards.

When I got home, I set-up my ghost bear lamp to continue with that spooky feeling. He looks so cute holding the pumpkin with a spider and little bats flying around. Here's how it looks normally...

And in the dark...

Cute, right? Hope you have a Happy Halloween! <3

Trying Out Ouji!

Hi friends! <3

While I was at the meet-up yesterday, there was a movie playing in the background with aristocrat vampires. It reminded me of a certain jacket I had picked up at a thrift store a few months ago. Feeling inspired, I thought I would try creating an ouji type coord.

I used mainly items I had on hand. My hair was tied in a low ponytail with a few strands left loose on the front sides. Makeup was kept simple with no blush. I think it turned out alright, but feel something is missing. It seems a little too plain. My friend suggested maybe a pin on the jabot. I agree, it needs some sort of jewelry like a pin or waist chain.

I wore this to work and found it fairly comfortable. The hair strands were very annoying though. They kept falling over my glasses lens and getting caught in the side hinges. I ended up tucking the strands behind my ears after awhile.

I enjoyed trying out something different and may do it again sometime.

J-Fashion Spooky Meet-up!

Hi friends! <3

It's been awhile since I went to a meet-up. Today, I went to a Halloween themed meet-up hosted by a nearby comm. It was at this place called Nox. I had never been there before. It had a bar/lounge area, party room, and lots of quirky decorations. The food was delicious. Perfect for relaxing with friends.

There was beautiful artwork hung on the walls. Done by local artists I believe, and available for purchase too.

I loved this cute dragon with the candles. And a tiny bottle of crow's feet...?

A spare table in the back covered in prizes for the raffle. Everyone was encouraged to bring in something, so everyone could leave with a prize...

Delicious assortment of food set up buffet style <3

I tried to get a little bit of everything. The chicken Caesar salad wrap was my favorite.

After eating, it was raffle time! I won a bunch of cute accessories and some candy.

Then we got into the card/board games. This one was so fun and random to play...

One of the hosts offered to take coord pictures, so everyone got ready. After mine was done, I found a book and got cozy in this chair by the fireplace. While I enjoyed socializing with everyone, it was nice to get some time to myself.

On the way out, we each got a goodie bag filled with a super cute sticker, pin, tea, and some candy. A bunch of us also decided to walk over to a friend's shop to take a look around. I had a great time!

This coord is the one I had planned out in advance using the jsk's stock pic. It was going to be mainly lavender, with black and gold. But upon receiving/seeing the actual dress in person, changes were needed. None of the lavenders matched. I ended up swapping out the black blouse for a brown one and the lavender otks for ivory ones. I was still planning to wear the gold shoes, but due to the rainy weather I wore the brown boots instead. I think it also helped to tie in the brown blouse better.

The end result was a bittersweet coord in lavender x brown x gold.

Share Your Most Worn Dress VS Your Least & Why...

Hi friends! <3

I was not going to be joining in this week's post, but after seeing everyone else's I really wanted to join in. So, I figured why not. Sorry if it's a bit late. Hope you enjoy it anyways!

Now onto the discussion topic...

My most worn dress would have to be one of these two...

Angelic Pretty "Tea Time a la Carte"
Angelic Pretty "Dream Fantasy"

Both are from older lucky packs and are super comfortable to wear. I love how colorful and cute they are. They always make me smile when I wear them. Coording is also super easy as I have a bunch of accessories that match. I just pick a color or two and away I go.

I love to wear strawberry or donut themed items with the first one. And, ice cream or teddy bear themed items with the second one.

My least worn jsk(s) would be all of these ones that I haven't worn other than to try on. A few I did plan out coords with, but didn't end up wearing them.

Angelic Pretty "Honey Cake Switching"
Moi Meme Moitie "Frame Cross Print Gathered"
Angelic Pretty "Holy Lantern"
Angelic Pretty "Toy Harmony"
Metamorphose "Snow Party Ribbon Shirred"
Moi Meme Moitie "Divine Cross"
BTSSB "Strawberry Tart"
Moi Meme Moitie "Sleeping Garden"
Royal Princess Alice x Automatic Honey "Witch Academy"

Honey Cake and Holy Lantern I had planned to wear to Anime North, but it was way too hot and I ended up wearing more casual clothes. Frame Cross needs to have the straps lengthened as they are way too short. I found some matching ribbon to make extenders, but just need to get around to sewing them. Toy Harmony and Snow Party I got during winter lucky pack season and didn't get around to wearing them. Divine Cross has just been waiting to be worn. Strawberry Tart I got during the summer time with the intention of trying out a country/berry picking type coord for a summer meet-up, but it was so hot out and meet-ups were not really happening at that time either. Sleeping Garden and Witch Academy I just got recently. I am hoping to wear Witch Academy to a meet-up this weekend. I just have to finish coording it.

I do plan to wear all of these dresses sometime though. Stay tuned for when I finally do :-)

Witch Academy Jsk Opening!

Hi friends! <3

I had heard that Automatic Honey was doing a collaboration with another lolita brand. When I saw the preview pics for this jsk I just knew I had to get it. Fortunately, I had recently sold off a dress and had the funds available to take part in the pre-order. A cat print dress was also on my wishlist. I thought it would be purr-fect for the upcoming spooky season as well.

Thoughts:

I really like the print! The cats are so cute. One is white with angel wings while the other is black with horns and bat wings. Other details include an acceptance letter, magic wands, candles, roses, bows, bats, moons, and stars. There is even the phrase "The Witch Academy school for the magically gifted" hidden among the vertical stripes. Very nice.

The bat wing collar is made of a nice thick cotton type fabric. It has a little removable bow. The printed fabric is light-weight and of good quality. It is fully lined. The lace is semi-soft and of decent quality. Side seams are done neatly with the print matched up. The straps are of a good length so the bodice sits right where it's supposed to. There is full back shirring. The fit is great in the bust with room for larger sizes. It is very comfortable to wear. There is also loops and a waist tie/belt made of nice thick grosgrain ribbon. It is somewhat awkward to tie though. I may just remove it when I wear the dress. I was pleased to find out that it is a bit longer as well, which is great as I'm on the taller side.

I was somewhat disappointed by the color though. I was expecting more of a warmer/brighter lavender. This is more of a cooler blue-grey, or periwinkle. I had already pre-planned a coord using the stock pic, but after seeing the difference in color, it will have to be re-done. Maybe I'll try using more black instead of lavender.

This dress was only available through the Harajuku Hearts website. It was fairly easy to create an account and order it. Below you can find a timeline of the process in case you are curious about it. I would definitely order through them again! There were also matching accessories available, but that would have delayed my dress arriving (from October to December), so I passed on that. I might try to obtain the matching headbow sometime later if I see it for sale, but if not no worries. I have other head accessories that will work with it. I'm looking forward to wearing it to an upcoming Halloween meet-up.

Create a Halloween Inspired Coord...

Hi friends! <3

Halloween is getting near, and this week's topic is a perfect way to get into the holiday spirit. It is one of my favorite holidays since everyone can pretty much wear what they want and not get any strange looks or comments. Some of favorite motifs include cats, bats, and crosses.

Since I had already ordered a couple things for a Halloween coord, I tried to plan out something that would work with what I had. Well, except the bag. I don't have that yet. Maybe I can find one that will work in the meantime. I'm hoping to wear the coord to a meet-up that is in a couple of weeks.

Sleeping Garden Jsk Opening!

Hi friends! <3

I had been wanting a Moitie dress in green for awhile now, but the two that are on my wishlist are hard to find. When this one was announced, I jumped at the opportunity. I had saw this print before, but the jsk was high-waisted and too small for me. Luckily this one would fit me.

Thoughts:

I am so excited for this dress! <3 I went with the size 13 and in the short length (bust: 91-105cm, waist: 77-87cm, length: 92.5cm). There was a size 9 which was slightly smaller, but I was afraid of it being too small and wanted to have some breathing room as well. It fits me comfortably at 98cm bust with a little room to spare. The back has partial shirring, along with a side zip and hook closure.

Interesting to note, is that there are no waist ties. I suppose one could adjust the fit via the front lacing. The bodice part is made of thick fabric while the skirt portion is thinner and lightweight. It is lined. The print features a cemetery with spooky looking trees, gravestones, crosses, angels, etc. I especially like the use of different shades of green. I'm looking forward to wearing it sometime soon!
