UB Mini Con!

A local anime convention had a early mini version going on. So, I went with a friend and my boyfriend. There were vendors, panels, and video game tournaments. Admission was free too (unless you entered into the gaming tournaments). 

That same day was also Community Day for Pokémon Go. Chimchar was the featured pokémon with the increased possibility of finding the shiny version. I had a difficult time with my game freezing up frequently, but managed to catch at least one shiny.

The vendor area had some interesting items available. Figures, handmade accessories, etc. I liked this Aggretsuko notebook with her various moods depicted inside.

There was even a tea room/panel with assorted teas and snacks.

I got pretzels, candy, and tried out the chocolate tea.

Went across the hall, to an anime viewing room/panel. Watched some Fairy Tail while waiting for my tea to cool down. The tea was alright; kind of bitter though. Eating some of the chocolate candy helped to add that needed sugar.

Then we went to the food court for a tasty lunch. I had the pork cutlet. Went back home afterwards. It was a nice day out :-)

Tora Con Day 1!

I went to another con with the boyfriend over the weekend; Tora Con!

The night before, we checked into the hotel and then picked up our badges. They gave us the program book and a schedule. It was fun to look over all the events and panels available. It also listed out and had a map of the vendors and artist alley booths.

We started off in the vendor and artist alley section. I saw this cute little plushie version of the Sanrio character Marumofubiyori. He's a polar bear that is very attached to his fuzzy blanket and likes to nap/relax at home. So cute!

There were so many interesting things to see. All kinds of merchandise, artwork, crafts, etc. I took a moment and got a pic in this special photo area. I like how they included so many different anime characters in one setting; Ed and Winry from Full Metal Alchemist, Goku from Dragonball, Serena from Sailor Moon, Nami from One Piece, and a couple others I didn't know.

Since a lot of time was spent shopping, we just went to one panel (RWBY), and then played Pokémon Go for a few hours (as it was Treecko community day). After such a busy day, we ended up having a late lunch. I got this pork ramen bowl. It was delicious!

Lolita & J-Fashion Golf Meet-up!

I met up with the semi local comm to do some mini golfing indoors at a mall. It was called Glowgolf and had lots of cool glow in the dark decorations, and interesting obstacles to navigate around.

This parrot seemed right at home among all the bright colors...

It was fun. I even got a hole in one! Some of those holes were very tricky. I ended up winning a free game on the bonus hole (where you return your ball).

Afterwards, we wandered in a few stores and got lunch. I tried this special bourbon bbq burger. It was good, but could have used more sauce...

Anime North: Day 3!

Today was both a sad and exciting day for me. It was the last day of the con but also the day of the big lolita tea party. I got up early to put my coord on and packed up my stuff. Then I went over to the hotel site where the event was to take place. Since there was plenty of time before the tea party started, I decided to attend one more panel. It was about tarot cards and their various meanings. It was interesting.

Afterwards, I got in line for the tea party. There was a bunch of people already in line even though it was not supposed to start for another hour. To distract myself from the wait, I checked out what everyone else was wearing. Some coords were very OTT and detailed while others featured themed props and handmade headdresses. So beautiful <3

Once the doors opened, we were let in. The room was large with a row of tables at the front (for the guests), round tables in the middle (for attendees), and a buffet style food area set-up in the back. Seating was not assigned so you could sit wherever you wanted. I joined a random table and saw this on my place setting...

There was also a lolita themed bingo card which the staff invited us to start with so I did. It was fun to chat with other lolitas and learn more about them. Also, completed bingo cards went into a drawing for raffle prizes. 

Once I completed my card, I checked out the food. Cute little finger sandwiches (egg salad, chicken salad, cucumber/cream cheese, salami/cheese) and a couple veggies...

And mini fruit tarts.

Tables were called up to get their food a few at a time. The food portions were limited, but later on (once everyone got their allotted share) you could go back for more. Which I did because those sandwiches were gone in like two bites. Very yummy :-)

My earl gray tea was delicious too :-)

Then it was time for the raffle prizes. Prizes had been donated by vendors and guests that had booths at the con.

The guests (Chisa from Angelic Pretty, Minori, and a kimono designer) gave speeches. Chisa and Minori also got to pick their favorite coords from the attendees for special recognition/prizes. I was mildly disappointed that I didn't win any of the raffle items or special prizes. However, I was pleasantly surprised when they announced everyone would be getting a goody bag from Angelic Pretty just for attending the tea party.

Angelica Tea Room Meet-up!

I went out for tea with the local lolita comm at a place downtown. Everything was decorated nicely. There was even a tree with lights and various ornaments. I thought I saw one that looked like a bagel. It was great to see everyone and enjoy the food together. 

Tea is ready...

Mmm...

***So shortly after I took this pic, there was a little incident with the tea cup. Apparently there was a crack in it and tea started leaking out down the side, flooding the saucer underneath. I notified the staff who was able to find me a replacement cup and saucer. Thankfully none of the tea got on my dress.*** 

And then the food arrived. Everything was yummy, but I do wish the scones were bigger. They were bite-sized instead of the larger ones I'm used to/see for tea. The sandwiches were cute but not too filling. My favorite was the curried chicken salad...
